Brandon Hill Park: A Fun and Educational Place to Visit
Do you like parks? If you do, you will love Brandon Hill Park, the oldest park in Bristol. It is a very special place, with a lot of history and nature. Let me tell you more about it.
The park was a gift to the council in 1174 by Robert Earl, son of King Henry I and the founder of Bristol.
In 1897, the park got a beautiful 105-foot-tall tower called the Cabot Tower which was designed by William Venn Gough and built to celebrate the 400th anniversary of John Cabot’s voyage to North America. It has amazing views of the city and the countryside. In 1936, the park got a water garden, with a waterfall from the bottom of the Cabot Tower. The park is now a special area that protects nature and history.
